Hi everyone,
Thought i'd better try the forums for this one. I've been happily recording my vocals over backing tracks by using a mic that runs through a pre-amp and plugs in to my laptop. Now for some strange reason, when I tried recording a new song today, the speed of my vocals is running faster than the backing music. I'm not doing anything different that i'm aware of, so why the sudden change? I can't fathom it for the life of me, so any help would be very welcome! Oh, and I'm new to using audicity, so I don't fully know my way around it just yet so this might be a simple problem that I've overlooked.
Many thanks in advance!
Jenny.

How much faster?
Is the pitch noticeably higher as well?
Which version of Audacity?
My first guess is that you've changed the sample rate from 44100 to 48000.

Is that 1.2.6 or 1.3.7 or 1.3.8? (look in the Help menu > About Audacity)

2x as fast?
A fraction of a second fast after 3 minutes playing?

hello,
I'm not sure what happened, but i've tried some different backing music and it's working fine now... thanks so much for looking into it though, much appreciated! Are you a singer yourself, or musician?
