How get level of microphone with alsa lib?

Hi all,
I'm new in this forum .I need get level of microphone but I don't know who do it. Any ideas or any example? I forward to do it in google and web alsa but I don't find.
I find an example that it's getting level in realtime,for example, the micro listens if will be noise or not. If will be noise it gets volume for example 25dB and if won't be noise it gets volume 0dB.
Can you help me, please?
