portmixer status

I'm developing a product where I'd need portmixer. I use portaudio with WDM/KS, but there seems to be no option for portmixer to work today with that stream type. There is a WASAPI implementation (but its not initialized in Px_OpenMixer), how is the status of that ?

The PortMixer license says that PortMixer is written and copyrighted by Dominic Mazzoni (in 2002, what doesn't necessarily mean that it's still copyrighted in 2011) and that PortMixer is intended to work along with PortAudio, but it's not part of PortAudio, so I assume the best place to ask is the audacity-devel list.
