Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in Audacity

Hi All,

I’ve recently been messing around with a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) software - Blue Prism - in Audacity to create unique audio samples and then write an album using just those samples.

I’ve pulled together a quick video showing how I’ve done it so thought I’d share on here in case anyone was interested.

If anyone wants the Objects for Blue Prism to take it further, let me know.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
How does Blue Prism control Audacity? Is it emulating key presses and mouse gestures?

No worries, thanks for taking the time to watch and respond.

Yeah, in essence Blue Prism emulates a human user in a given application. In this case I’ve “spied” the menus, fields, buttons, etc. and given the software parameters within which to work (a range of -20dB to +10dB for example). It then in does its thing in choosing the value (often a random number between x and y) and then “keys” it in to Audacity just as a human user would.

Some of the results are horrendous, just walls of white noise. But others have been really interesting and unique.

Although it probably doesn’t fit with your current project, you may be interested in Audacity’s scripting interface: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/scripting.html
