Ability to SCROLL Effects Menu

It would be great if the ability to scroll the Effects drop-down list with a mouse wheel or trackball was added – instead of having to find and hold the down or up arrows on the bottom or top of the Effect s drop-down list.

On Windows you can open the Effect menu, then press the first letter of the name of the effect that you want to use. For example, if you want the Wah Wah effect, press “w”.

You can also create keyboard shortcuts for effects that you use frequently (see: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/keyboard_preferences.html)

+1 Particularly for newbies or for browsers as the entire list of effects is not available on the screen and one has to keep moving the mouse back and forth from the bottom of the screen then back to the top of the screen to review the full list.

I’m not sure if that’s possible on Windows. I’ve written to the developers asking for clarification.

In the audacity.cfg I have for my production work I shorten the long effect menu by disabling all the effects that I don’t normally use:

Makes it much easier to work with.

Another way to make the menu shorter is to use grouping: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/effects_preferences.html

Yes but that involves an extra click …

Thanks for reporting this to dev.
