Getting an alpha-build when compiling the latest Audacity 2.3.3

Hello, everybody,

I’ve been compiling Audacity with ASIO on Windows 8.1 for quite some time now.

Yesterday I compiled the current version 2.3.3 from a tagged version of the source code from Github. After running Audacity I noticed that I got an alpha version with the compilation date (see attached screenshot).

Is this a bug in the source code or do I actually get an alpha build of Audacity 2.3.3? And if so how do I get the source code for the release version of Audacity 2.3.3?

Thanks so lot.

Best regards
Christian

It looks like the release “tag” was set the days before the build version was set to “release”.
The download from here should give you the release version: https://github.com/audacity/audacity/tree/008d8d8c

Hello Steve,

thank you for the quick reply.

I’ will compile the version from your link when I get home next week and post the result here.

Thanks again!

It was. That’s been fixed now so the 2.3.3 release tag should now work:

Hello Steve,

that worked without a problem. I am getting the release version now.

Many Thanks!
