I just tried to end the Pulse Audio process. After I did that I had a lot more output device options, such as the analog hw0:0 one that I missed earlier and the sound was coming out nicely!

Another question though: There is a volume level fader to the left near a speaker symbol, which seems to be at 0 by default. It doesn't seem like its position means anything. There is no difference if I move it to maximum (1.0) or keep it a 0. Or is it only for recording?
