View > History and overwriting wave files issues

Post by Gale Andrews » Fri Sep 26, 2008 5:39 pm

Hi

Some users are getting replicable problems with the subject issues in 1.3.5 and CVS HEAD. Can anyone here replicate them, preferably from CVS HEAD?

* This one is quick to check. Click View > History and there is a segmentation fault and Audacity closes without warning. Not dependent on number of items in history. Reported in 1.3.5 Release and CVS (Linux 32-bit, i686, Arch Linux)

* This one takes longer to check. When importing larger WAV files ( > 400 MB) with Preferences set to "read directly", exporting to the same file by overwriting results in a visually/audibly corrupted file. Reported on Debian, both in 1.3.5 and CVS HEAD.

Thanks

Gale

I've tested this on Audacity 1.3.5 on Ubuntu 8.04 with no problem.
Unable to test it with the CVS version as I can't get it to compile http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6526 (strange, though, I've not had trouble compiling Audacity 1.3.5, but I don't know how to get past this error.

Sorry, I can't test the other issue as I don't have enough free disk space at the moment.
