Which audacity version?
Do you have enough disk free space? (specially on the temp folder?)
What happens after those 7-50 seconds? It just stops like if you had pressed the stop button?

Re: MAudio 1010lt records only 7-50 seconds
Sorry, I thought being in the Audacity 1.3.13 (Beta) released, Linux index implied version.
Audacity 1.3.13 (Beta) released, from packman.
250+gig, 87+ hours left
SUSE 11.3
MAudio 1010lt card 8 channels in
1gig/1gig
44.1/16 bit
ALSA
The recording just stops. The meter stays lit. The seconds counter stops. The arrow above stops. The record button stays pressed, requiring the stop button to be pressed to continue.

Do you, by any chance, have sound activated recording turned on? (Transport menu)

Sound activated recording is not on.
Re: MAudio 1010lt records only 7-50 seconds
Searching the forum I found that a similar problem has been reported here too.
At the time the workaround that the user found was to use jackd instead of pulseaudio/alsa.
Not sure if there was any change in the later versions of audacity regarding this...
Are you sure you have Audacity 1.3.13-beta? It was officially released yesterday only, after your initial post I believe...

Re: MAudio 1010lt records only 7-50 seconds
Sorry, it was Audacity ® 1.3.12-beta (Unicode). I thought it was the latest. Actually, after a trip to packman I see that it is still the latest that they have.
I have been recording to a Fostex VR800 8 track recorder. I have many hours of recording that I want to edit. I decided to move to computer after my audio cd recorder died. That was years ago.

Re: MAudio 1010lt records only 7-50 seconds
Unfortunately there could be any number of reasons for this problem, but it looks like somewhere along the line the audio stream between sound card and Audacity has been dropped, causing the recording to freeze.
As you say that you're using ALSA, I presume that you do not have PulseAudio installed?
With a 1010lt I'd definitely try and get it working with Jack - there's a lot of advantages to Jack for audio work.

I have brought in all the suggested gimmicks. Is there a short intro somewhere on how to hook them up?
PulseAudio doesn't seem to see the 1010lt.

That probably means that some other software is using (and blocking access to) the device...jimonkka wrote:PulseAudio doesn't seem to see the 1010lt.
