Input Volume Way Too High In Ubuntu 10.10

Post by giddyup305 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:34 am

Hi,

This problem has been driving me nuts! I tried searching without any luck. I am using a Logitech orbital camera as my mic input. When I check the output, it is always too high and distorted. The mic input slider is greyed out, and won't let me adjust it.

If you could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

The greyed out slider means that audacity can't take over the control of the sound volume. You have to use another mixer controller. Such as gnome's or pulseaudio's sound mixer control panel. You can also use alsamixer on a terminal window.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).

I found that quoted "cut and paste" on a lot of Linux forums in different contexts, so I have now deleted that post.
