Can someone please explain where the help files go in 1.3.4 beta? I have them in the audacity-data dir, under the Help dir. But when I call up help,
the system is loading index.htm (used to be html) this way:
http://www.file.com/home/frank/.audacit ... /index.htm
^^^^^^^^^^^^
What is this all about???
Other than that I love the software..and am looking forward to 1.3.5

Re: Help files
As it says in the "ReadMe" file, Audacity 1.3.4 is distributed without the help file. However you can access it on-line, or download it from here: http://audacityteam.org/help/documentation

I know that. I am asking where the downloaded files go.

This is what I get in my browser when they are put in audacity-data/help and the index file changed to index.htm from index.html
Re: Help files
I think the link in the Help menu is just a dummy (left over from when the help files were included).
The easiest thing is just to make a desktop shortcut, or one in your start menu. After you've been using Audacity for a couple of weeks, you won't use the help file anyway.
Audacity 1.4 is due out fairly soon - perhaps they will put a working help link in that.

Well that's what I have done - a desktop link to index.html. It brings up the browser loaded with the index.
It's just I thought there was once particular place they should go to work with the help in Audacity.

The latest development version now has a link to a page explaining how to view help in the Audacity help window:stevethefiddle wrote:I think the link in the Help menu is just a dummy (left over from when the help files were included).Audacity 1.4 is due out fairly soon - perhaps they will put a working help link in that.

Frankzen, I can't see your images but the HTML (and PDF) Manual export is broken, as explained on that link. That might explain whatever you were seeing. The above page gives you a somewhat limited single page version of the manual, with some internal links not working. When you install the Beta you accept that the features and documentation may be incomplete.
