How can I use Ubuntu without getting rid of Windows XP? I want to start using Ubuntu but I don't necessarily want to get rid of windows XP. Is there a way that I can use Ubuntu but keep Windows XP on my computer?

Yes - very easy.
It's called "dual boot" https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot
