multiple audio tracks (ubuntu 10.04)

Post by temple » Sun Aug 08, 2010 1:04 am

Hey, I have a question regarding production using multiple audio tracks. Here's my issue. On a song Im working on, one of my tracks goes on for a measure before I open another track to start the drums. I want my initial track to continue, with the drum track going over the top of it. However, when I import the sample for the drums, it splits my initial track, stopping it for the drum track, and starting it again. (I'll include a screenshot) How do I fix this? Thanks so much for your help!!

Please post to the correct forum for the version of Audacity you are using. I've now moved this from the 1.2 to the 1.3 Forum.

The screenshot suggests you pasted the drum sample rather than importing it. To prevent a paste affecting other tracks, click the Tracks menu then uncheck Link Tracks (or hit the Link Tracks button to left of the zoom button). Link Tracks tries to keep the tracks synchronised so that if there is a change on the timeline, existing parts of the audio still line up.
