Problems recording
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 and have installed Audacity 1.3.11-beta. I have also installed via repositories "pavucontrol". But when i go along to Youtube and select the video and sound track i want to listen to i click on the "record" button in Audacity and then click on the "play" button in Youtube. I am then informed to check the output device settings and the project sample rate? Would someone help me out here please. Big thanks
Re: Problems recording
What settings do you have in "Edit menu > Preferences > Device"?
Does "pavucontrol" open correctly without any errors?

Re: Problems recording
I'm not familiarized (yet) with pulseaudio... but if you're goal here is to record the soundtrack from an youtube video I can think of easier ways which do not involve using audacity... (you can then open the saved file into audacity and do all the editing you need) If that's not your goal sorry for my bad assumption...
If my assumption is right... and if you're not afraid of using the command line... then try installing youtube-dl (should be in ubuntu's repos).
If you use firefox there are also some plugins, such as Download Helper, which allow you to save pretty much any stream that plays on firefox...
And there are probably some graphical apps on ubuntu that will provide this kind of service... (search the repos for "youtube download" or similar keywords).

Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
