The mic works, Audacity plays, but does not record. I tried the solution given in an earlier post "no mic audacity only Ubuntu 9.10" in case it applied, but the PulseAudio Volume Control does not recognise that Audacity is recording, so the "Recording" tab remains blank. Audacity will not start if the PulseAudio Volume Control is up, so I have to start Audacity first.
I have Audacity running fine in Lenny, where it uses OSS, but in Squeeze if I try OSS Audacity tells me to check the device settings and sample rate.

Do you have a fully functional PulseAudio/ALSA set-up?
