Change Pitch missing

Hello,

This is an amd-64 system.

I have installed 1.3.9 (I think) in Ubuntu 9.10 and the "Change Pitch" effect was in it and working. This was after having installed 1.3.5- Lenny in 9.10. I had many problems with audacity in 9.10 such as broken audio and broken up wave forms. I got it to work a little though. I also had problems with the default selection in Ubuntu 8.04 wiping out "flash-player" . I installed the 1.3.5-Lenny in it as the default selection of audacity didn't have the "Change Pitch" effect in it.

By installing the "flash player' first in Ubuntu 9.10 and locking it, I was able to keep the flash player going but audacity just didn't seem to work well as it wouldn't play any imported audacity files fron 8.04

My main problem right now is that I have just installed audacity 1.3.9.17 in Open Suse 11.2 and the "Change Pitch" effect is gone. I need to get the "Change Pitch" effect back as audacity is unusable for me without it.

In which version of audacity was the "Change Pitch" effect taken out? It was in the 1.3.5 Lenny version but not in another 1.3.5 version that I found. It seems a little hit & miss.

Thank You.

Change Pitch has not been taken out, at least not in the Audacity code. It is possible that your packaged version has left out some necessary dependencies. Have you got the "Change Tempo" effect?

Yes Steve, I have the "Change Tempo" effect. It actually works well for slowing down and maintaining the same pitch. I haven't figured out yet how to get it to just raise or lower the pitch yet, but I haven't had time to play with it much yet. "Change Tempo" does seem to leave a slight tinny echo to the result but that's not too bad for my uses.

Have you any ideas as to the possible missing dependency?

Thank You.

No I'm afraid not. If both change pitch and change tempo were missing I'd have a good guess, but with only Change Pitch missing I think you'll have to ask on the Ubuntu forum (unless anyone else has any ideas?)

Hello,

I re installed the ubuntu 9.10 operating system from scratch and during the process I installed the Sound Touch library before installing audacity and also every 32 bit library I could find. Also the Flash Player was installed before audacity as there was previously some conflict between some of the libraries that audacity needed and the Flash Player. Not sure of the connection between them. Now the Change Pitch effect is there.
