Hi!
I'm an Audacity Linux user.
When I update my etch distribution to lenny (debian stable) I also obtain an upgrade of Audacity with bad results.
In this new version disappear the possibility to select the line in like input and I used the microphone input.
At the fist time, I supposed that the bad results are caused to the quality of the tapes used.
Yesterday I decided to register to this forum to investigate why my mp3 files are so terrible.
I discovered that a good solution is use the line in and not the microphone input but in my audacity version is impossible to select
this input. The only solution is a downgrade to the previous version.
Someone can help me?
I'm afraid to broke dependency and do not end the downgrade.
Thanks in advance
Downgrade Audacity in debian Lenny

What is your current version of Audacity? (see in the "Help menu > About Audacity")

Re: Downgrade Audacity in debian Lenny
The version is 1.3.5-2 how you can see if you connect to debian org and search packages Audacity.
Reading this forum I've also found that probably the question is related to the PortAudio v.19
In previous version was possible to select the line in input
TIA

Re: Downgrade Audacity in debian Lenny
It may be worth trying a later version of Audacity. The current version is 1.3.7 beta.
The simplest way to do this is to first uninstall your current Audacity, then download the deb package and double click on it. If it does not work, simply use your package manager to uninstall it.
The better way is to install from the source code, but that can be more complicated so we'll try to avoid that unless all other options fail.

Thanks for the info.
I will try.
