static noise

static noise

i am on my macbookpro, osx 1.5.6./audacity 1.3.7

I rip the tracks of an LP and all of a sudden there is after 10 minutes a loud static noise.

Anybody know what that is and how it can be prevented/remedied.

That subject heading almost always means you're having trouble with your USB turntable, although you didn't mention it in the post. Most people buy them as throw-away turntables and sometimes they need to be thrown away a little too soon.
