downgrading from 1.3.8 to 1.3.7?

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Certainly works on my Windows XP machines - where I have both 1.3.6 and 1.3.7 (and even 1.3.5 and 1.2.6) all installed.

They are carefully installed in differently named folder areas (named to differentiate the versions) rather than the default that Audacity tries to load in. I can fire any of them up ok - but not at the same time as each other. But I do realize that that they are all working off the same preferences file - but apart from that they don't impact on or interfere with each other.

Thanks. Synthesizing this, Gale's response in another thread, and what Koz has said, this sounds like a difference between Mac and Windows. --Allen

Or maybe not.

I have two requirements that use different 1.3 versions on two different Mac boots. The regular, boot from the system drive, check the email, OS is Tiger running 1.2.5 and 1.3.6 just because that was the last one I installed and it seems to be reliable enough to do what I want. 1.2.5 is stable on Tiger but not Leopard.

I boot clean to an external drive and Leopard and that's the development system with the daily downloads of each installer. I need to make absolutely sure that none of the old Audacity is left hanging around when I install the new one.

I've always followed the Party Line against trying to manage multiple Audacities. There are enough problems without tempting fate. See:
