Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Just tried 2009.01.31-03.15. Same problem. The only difference is that now the progress bar stops halfway instead of at 100%, but Audacity still hangs. MacbookPro Under 10.5.6.

Thanks. It seems that nightly build didn't help anyone affected by this problem. We'll stick at it.

It doesn't work under Tiger OS-X 10.4.11, either. Spinning Beach Ball Of Death.

I have a Twilight Zone Config Issue. When I test under Leopard, OS-X 10.5, I have separate boot drives for the different versions and when I flush one version, it's pretty much gone.

Down here in the main machine boot drive it's Tiger OS-X 10.4.11, all on an Intel Mini.

I can't get rid of the config information.

I flushed everything Audacity I could find, /Application Support, /Applications, /Desktop. None of the search functions can find any config information or Audacity files that are not in the Trash. There are no Portable Settings folders or other entries.

I bleach-swabbed the machine, let it dry and installed 2009 01 30 Audaciy 1.3.8-Alpha from the download dmg file. It arrived with all my config information in perfect order. It did not ask me English?, it knew about my 48000 fetish, and it had a complete and correct list of Last Files Opened.

Where did it find that information? Can Audacity open up files in the Trash?

I downloaded the 2009.02.02 1.3.8-alpha build and I could open 3 different .aiff files copied straight from AudioCD.

...And it opens up the "real" aiff file, too.

This version still suffers from the exploding outline, opening focus, and SpaceBar Play issues.

Ugh...still??? Grrr...

I haven't decided on whether I should get rid of the exploding outline or not. It's been there for so long, I wonder if ppl would notice it being gone...

Opening focus and spacebar playing seems to work for me. Can you give me scenario where either doesn't work like you expect?

Do you have a "~/Library/Preferences/Audacity Preferences" file? This is the old 1.2.x file.

Yes, it is and yes I do.

The question that immediately springs to my, and a number of other people's lips is why doesn't that show up on a search for "audacity."

That's a good question. I just tried it myself using Finder and it doesn't show up here either. Of course, none of the other files in Preferences do either unless you drill down into the folder first. Don't know...first time for me to use the search myself.
