Audacity1.3.7-alpha dated 7 JAN 09

The explosions broke. If I launch Audacity from /Applications, I get an exploding icon and an exploding outline. I gained an exploding outline when I launch Audacity from the Dock. Programs generally launch from the Dock without explosions--at least on my machine.
Ya know...I must be going bonkers here. I can't get the darn outline to show up for ANYTHING except Audacity!!! I've tried most of the apps in Applications via the dock and Finder. I tried some other apps too for the heck of it and I just can't get the exploding outline. I've tried it on Tiger and Leopard.

What other apps do you have the have the exploding outline?
I opened the usual piano clip many ways, piano2.wav > Open As..., File > Open, File > Open Recent. In each case the timeline arrived with the yellow halo and SpaceBar Play worked immediately.
Excellent. That's great news.

Thanks,

Leland

OK, so assuming the "focus" problem is licked, I'll go on to the explosion problem.

I wonder how many security triggers we hit so far with those words.

Audacity1.3.7-alpha dated 7 JAN 09

Dictionary 2.0.2
FireFox 3.0.5
iTunes 8.0.2
Terminal 2.0.1
MacJanitor 1.3
Safari 3.2.1

Janitor and FireFox are external, downloaded applications. The others came with the OS.

All these open "straight" with no special effects from the Doc at the bottom of the screen. They all open with an Exploding Icon from /Applications in a graphic window.

Audacity opens with an exploding icon and an exploding outline from /Applications. It opens up from the Doc with an exploding outline.

The effect is easiest to see if you open /Applications in a window and place audacity.app in the middle of the screen, but don't launch it from there. Launch Audacity from the Doc. I think the screen manager has to manage two things at once so it slows down enough to see the exploding outline much more clearly.

Your serve.

So, what you're saying is that Audacity really shouldn't have that exploding outline at all, right? That's actually what I'm starting to believe as well since I don't see it being used for any other Mac applications. I can easily get rid of it, but up until now, I just thought it was normal. Can you believe I've never noticed that it wasn't there for other apps?!?!?!

Yes, well. Developers have a pretty shaky grip on reality to begin with.
