Generate Silence Hot Key

I had a PC failure this morning, so I needed to edit some theatrical productions in Mac Audacity. I picked 1.3.5b. I found or made all the hot keys I needed until I got to the place I needed to add a half-second silent slug.

The Silence Generator doesn't appear to go to a half-second, and there doesn't appear to be a Hot Key for Silence Generation. Did I just miss it?

Koz the silence generator has a deop down list from the down-traingle at the right of the time box - this defauls to seconds as you have pointed out - but the drop-down lets you select a whole raft of formats - including hh:mm:ss + milliseconds.

I does work but there appears to be a bugette - it generated the correct number of milliseconds - but when I returned to Generate Silence the next time, Audacity had changed the format to hh:mm:ss + samples !! This happens even if you reset to the normal default of hh:mm:ss - you then revert to hh:mm:ss + samples

As with other "Generate" and "Effects", hot-keys are not supported.

I think there was (quite some time ago) an "add feature" request for hot-key support for effects, but I think that this would probably be difficult to implement as Audacity has an open structure to support third party plug-ins.

I'm considering an awkward work-around using copy and paste. A second work panel which just had a half-second of silence in it. I don't use the copy process much during editing, so that's one option.
