Thanks Koz - this was with the AIFF (Apple) signed 16 bit PCM menu item wasn't it? Would you also be able to try also "Other Uncompressed Files", click Options button, then choose "AIFF (Apple/SGI)" in the "Header" menu, then one by one in the "Encoding" menu, "Signed 16 bit PCM" followed by "Signed 24 bit PCM" and "Signed 32 bit PCM". We want to be sure this is producing different bit format and file size. iTunes on Windows can now cope with 32 bit files - can it on Mac?
kozikowski wrote:I did note that Export Multiple launches the MetaData dialog box for each output file. That's annoying.Is that normal?
It's how it is at the moment. You can use this link as your stock answer, that gives a workaround.

Also we've just committed some fixes for Quit becoming disabled, and other menus becoming disabled after use of a modal dialogue like Preferences. If you grab the latest Nightly Build from the bottom of this list you could try it out...

Thanks

============================================
Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2G memory
Mac OS-X 10.5.6
piano2.wav 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 KHz.

===========================================

Audacity1.3.7-alpha dated 1 JAN 09

The Quit thing is much better behaved.

Audacity Preferences are 48000, 16-bit, Stereo which matches the clip.

Open the clip and divided it into two with two Apple-B labels. File > Export Multiple...

AIFF (Apple/SGI) Signed 16-bit PCM
piano2-1.aiff 388 KB
piano2-2.aiff 800 KB
Both open in QuickTime 7.5.5, and iTunes 8.0.2

AIFF (Apple/SGI) Signed 24-bit PCM
piano2-1.aiff 580 KB
piano2-2.aiff 1.2MB
Both open in QuickTime 7.5.5, and iTunes 8.0.2

AIFF (Apple/SGI) Signed 32-bit PCM
piano2-1.aiff 772 KB
piano2-2.aiff 1.6 MB
Both open in QuickTime 7.5.5, and iTunes 8.0.2

I did get the selection process to semi-fail. I opened the dialog to Export Multiple and set the characteristics (numbered files, save to desktop, etc). Without pressing Export, I clicked Audacity in the title bar and Quit was gray. I clicked on the desktop to clear the dialog and reselected the Export panel. Sometimes the Export button is unresponsive. The panel isn't frozen, the button animation is still running and the Export Location window cursor is still flashing, it just won't export. Cancel still works. It continued that way many times until I restarted Audacity.

Also,When I open the test clip, sometimes it arrives with SpaceBar Play working and sometimes not. Also, sometimes I get the yellow halo and sometimes not.

One more piece, the QuickTime INFO panel confirms the format of each file as they open..

Thanks for checking the AIFFs were correct, Koz.

The shortcuts not worklng until you click somewhere/after you use some effects hasn't been addressed yet. Being able to click outside Export Multiple and actually get to the menus (greyed or not) doesn't sound correct at all. On Windows you just get a "doing" and can do nothing if you try that. I'll let Leland know.

I'm fairly certain what you're seeing it just standard modal dialog stuff, but if you think it's a problem, can you post a screenshot of the grayed out Quit item?

I believe I partially corrected the spacebar problem last night as part of a different change. I'll see if I can address get the rest of it...
