Trouble with USB sound card

Post by Hannah » Tue Nov 18, 2008 6:35 pm

I'm trying to record a mix onto an iBookG4, but as that doesn't have an internal sound card, I bought a USB sound card. With that plugged in I can select USB Audio in the device settings in preferences, but when I hit record it says:

Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate.

Do you know what I need to do to get the sound card working?

Thanks

Hannah

With a USB sound device plugged in Audacity should be offering no selectable input choices - it should recognise that there is only the one valid soundpath (the USB one) and shut off allother options.

Have you tried making sure the USB soundcard is plugged in and recognized by the computer - BEFORE firing up Audacity?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if my laptops recognizing the sounds card. I can't see it anywhere in finder. Do you know how it should look? Should I see an option for it?

Sorry I'm a Windoze person - so I don't know how MACs behave.

Hopefully someone who speaks MAC-talk will happen by this thread and add their two-penn'orth ....
