Is there a way to associate 2 finger trackpad gestures to Audacity functions
i.e. Zooming in and out
or perhaps horizontal scrolling the waveform

Thanks,
ghee

There are many mouse and keyboard shortcuts (see Edit > Preferences).
If you can map your trackpad device to these keys/mouse, then you will be able to use tham.

I've no idea, you will have to look in the manual/instructions/help file for the device. It may not even be possible, but I know that some trackpads include a utility for doing so.

Steve, I'm referring to the builtin trackpad on every macbook (just making sure we're on the same page).

Anyone know how to map the trackpad? (I've searched online as best as I could. I found a utility called SideTrack which enhances the trackpad, but nothing about mapping the trackpad)
I saw it has been posted as a feature request on the wiki.
Scroll with the Mac Track Pad: scroll left/right, up/down and/or zoom by two-finger movements, as recently added to Finale. (3 votes)

Hi ghee,
I wasn't meaning to get your hopes up, but the ability to map mouse/trackpad gestures to keyboard short cuts is something that I have seen on a laptop PC, and if such a thing exists for Macs, then it may offer a possible solution for you.
I'm not a Mac user, but I also spotted this, which may be worth looking at http://www.soft32.com/download_211879.html

Would you like your vote adding to that feature request, or have you already done that?

Steve,
I've already added my vote, thank you. And as for your reply, I appreciate you bringing this application to my attention. I'll be fiddling with it :)

Alas, my hopes were raised by your responses, but such is the tendency of the mac software arena. So much 'range of motion' in regards to little applications and preference manipulations in the Windows camp. I'll just have to hook up a mouse to my macbook, it's not the end of the world.

But, <deep sigh>, we need to acknowledge, there is a desire here that has gone unmet.
