Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

ALAC codec for Audacity?

Post by TechnoPhil » Tue Oct 16, 2012 10:12 am

Hi guys,
Apple released ALAC as opensource in 28-10-11.
Are you planing to update Audacity in order to export FLAC files into ALAC m4a?

I know that i can do that with ffmpeg libraries (or XLD program), but ffmpeg only converts in 16-bit mode (not in 24-bit).
Best regards.

Filippo ;)

We're planning on getting an Apple developer. Are you available?

I expect that FFmpeg will add this in due course.

What about a command line interface for Audacity?
It would be great to batch convert audio files! ;)

If you are using an external encoder you can use command line options. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ex ... ogram.html

Audacity has some (limited) support for batch processing. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/edit_chains.html and http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/apply_chain.html
For more advanced command line batch processing, see: http://sox.sourceforge.net/
