I have a Audio Technica AT2050 mic with a Centrance Micport Pro, plugged into a Mac g4.
I seem to have everything set up correctly, but I don't record any sound unless I yell into the mic., and even then, not much.
The volume on the Micport Pro is turned up, so I know that's not the issue.
Has anyone out there had this issue, or have an idea on how to resolve it?
Help would be appreciated.
Scott

Check that you have phantom power switched on (on the Centrance Micport Pro).

Re: Volume level is extremely low
Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Make sure your microphone or USB device is selected. It should be possible to get the bouncing ball sound meter to bounce up to the right-hand third of its range with the panel local volume control plus all the other controls you have in the system.
If it's low here, it will always take post production to bring it up to "normal" volume. I have a similar device, the Shure X2U and it's no high volume champ, either.
Nobody has to worry about clipping and overload.

Yes, the USB device, CEntrance MicPort Pro, is selected. I'm not sure what you mean by "the bouncing ball sound meter".

Re: Volume level is extremely low
Do you have an "Input Level" graph below the Input Volume slider? Those flash left to right as the volume builds. Koz

Yes, but it's locked all the way to the right. I control the volume on the MicPort Pro.
