Audacity crashed after saving a project. Project file is non-existent, but the data folder is there. Anyway I can recover a full project file? I can't go through the hundred if not thousands of little 6 second data clips and piece them together.
Thanks!

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Recover project
Have you tried restarting Audacity?
Recent versions of Audacity 1.3.x can usually recover projects after a crash automatically.
If you get asked whether to delete orphan files, select "work silently round", but do not delete them yet.
If the project then opens and plays correctly, use "File menu > Save As" and save the project with a new name.
Then close and restart Audacity and open the newly saved project and check that it plays correctly.

Re: Recover project
What three-section version number of Audacity do you have (see Audacity > About Audacity)?
If you have anything lower than 1.3.14 (for example, 1.3.12) please upgrade:
http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.14.dmg

Re: Recover project
I have the 1.3 Beta running on a Mac. Unfortunately, when it was restarted, it didn't give the option to recover anything. I don't think it recognized it as a crash because it saved all the data files? I dunno. I have had crashes before that I've been able to recover that way, but that was when nothing saved at all.
Re: Recover project
What's the third number? Look in "Audacity > About Audacity" for the full version number.clgwaltney wrote:I have the 1.3 Beta

Re: Recover project
Audacity saves the .aup file last, after the _data folder.
Have a look in ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/AutoSave. Audacity had a temporary .aup file there with .autosave extension before you saved the project. The .autosave file does not seem to be there or Audacity would have offered a recovery, but there is a remote chance a .tmp file could be there which would serve the same purpose as the .autosave file. It's not a strong possibility.
Otherwise if you have searched your computer for the .aup and can't find it, you can sort the .au files into time stamp order then rename them into a sequence and use the old 1.2 Recovery Utility:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Crash ... very_tools
But if you were doing a lot of editing you could find many parts of the recovered WAV file to be out of correct order. A recovery where you have to manually resort/rename the files can only recover a mono, unedited recording correctly.
