Converting WAV to WMA

Hi

I'm very new to audio formatting for forgive the simple question. For transcribing purposes (Olympus) I need to convert a WAV (Zoom H4N) file to WMA (Olympus dictaphone). I go through the process which is pretty straight forward but clearly I'm missing a step somewhere. When I open the files in the Olympus software they are visible but with no running time, so nothing there. I'm guessing that my error must be in the export. Many thanks for any advice.

Can your exported files be imported correctly into iTunes? If they can then your export is correct but your Olympus Dictaphone requires some other format.

No they can't. iTunes doesn't accept WMA files. I've tried using the "WMA (version 2)" option and also the "Custom FFmpeg export" but to no avail.

Yes in Safari.

And how about the WMA files that you made? Will they play in Safari?
(I made that sample by exporting from Audacity using the "WMA (version 2)" option).

Hi Steve

Thanks for your efforts but I've managed to resolve the issue. I've upgraded my Olympus software so it can now transcribe mp3 files which can be converted from WAV.

Best
