Re: Uninstall
Drag the the "Audacity" folder, any dmg or zip files you downloaded and "libmp3lame.dylib" to Trash.
If you were not able to export MP3s after all, you can export as WAV or AIFF from Audacity and convert that WAV or AIFF to MP3 in iTunes. To do that, click the following link:

Re: Uninstall
'Find' does not return a hit for that file. I must have one because MP3 export works."libmp3lame.dylib" to Trash.
Make sure that Desktop > Go > Home > Library > Application Support > audacity folder is gone, too. Drag that to the Trash.

Is that because it's in /usr and you need to search protected folders to find it?kozikowski wrote:'Find' does not return a hit for that file. I must have one because MP3 export works."libmp3lame.dylib" to Trash.
If freddie29 got the zip of LAME and installed it in his own user space then FInd should find it.
Be aware that removes your former Audacity preferences if you should ever decide to use Audacity again.kozikowski wrote: Make sure that Desktop > Go > Home > Library > Application Support > audacity folder is gone, too. Drag that to the Trash.

Re: Uninstall
The item “Lame Library v3.98.2 for Audacity.pkg” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted. The item “Audacity” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted.
These are the messages I get when dragging the files to the Trash. Any suggestions of how to Uninstall?
The virus scan isn't reporting any problems; can I assume these downloads won't affect my computer if whether or not I can uninstall?

Make sure you have done Audacity > Quit Audacity so that it isn't running, or Command - Option - Esc to bring up Force Quit.freddie29 wrote:The item “Lame Library v3.98.2 for Audacity.pkg” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted. The item “Audacity” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted.

If you installed to somewhere you need admin permissions, then you need the same admin permissions to delete files.
You can also try Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities. Select your system drive and Verify Disk and then when that's done, Repair Permissions.
Otherwise contact Apple support if you cannot delete files on the system.
If you obtained Audacity from http://audacityteam.org/download/ then remaining files should not affect your system in any way.freddie29 wrote:The virus scan isn't reporting any problems; can I assume these downloads won't affect my computer if whether or not I can uninstall?

Re: Uninstall
Are you on a corporate or business machine? Did you get your Mac from someone in the IT department? you will not be able to change the software without talking to them.
Are you an Administrator on your Mac? Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Accounts. Mine looks like the picture and I can install and remove software.
A remote possibility is your Virus software is preventing you from "damaging" your computer by deleting software. Consult your directions.

Re: Uninstall
Any remaining files including LAME or FFmpeg (for reading and writing extra audio and video formats) will not affect the computer. Other programs that look for LAME and FFmpeg libraries might try to use those libraries.freddie29 wrote:No affect on computer function with Audacity; does that include LAME?
But if you own the computer and you are the administrator of it, you should be able to delete whatever files you want.
