I too am having a problem with installing Audacity. My Mac OS is x 10.6.8. When I try to install Audacity to my Application folder, I get the message "the application folder can not be modified". I get the same message for the Lame MPEG file. Could be that Im doing something wrong, but whatever help you can give would be appreciated.

Re: Application folder can not be modified error
To install Audacity 1.3.13:
1 Double-click the downloaded .dmg to mount it
2 Then to install Audacity, copy the "Audacity" folder from the newly mounted .dmg to /Applications or any other location of your choosing.
If you still receive errors about not being able to modify files, what did Apple tell you to do when you asked them?
Have you tried logging in as an Administrator and giving your password? Or copying the "Audacity folder" to your Desktop?
If you also have permissions problems installing LAME, try the zip file:
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/Lame_Libr ... on_OSX.zip
Extract the contents of the zip to a folder called "Lame_Library_v3.98.2_for_Audacity_on_OSX" anywhere on your computer, then follow steps 6.1 to 6.3 here:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... ns#maclame
If your Mac permissions are messed up, try Go > Utilities > Disk Utilities. Select your system drive and Verify Disk and then when that's done, Repair Permissions.

Re: Application folder can not be modified error
Gale, You are the best. I just realized that IM never logged on as Administrator. Im sure thats what the problem was. At the apple store for a one on one session. Don't think I need it now. Will let you know f the Admin log on works but that makes perfect sense.
