Placement of multiple files in a single track

If I have one music file in a track, how can I place a second music file at the exact end position of the song already in the track...and then a third, fourth, etc?

These 2 answers from the forum don't work:

"When you have all the recordings as separate tracks in Audacity, use the Time Shift tool (the double-headed arrow) to move the audio in each track along the timeline to where you want it. Then export the project as a WAV file."

"You can record more material at the end of the track with Transport > Append Record. You can import a second file (it will import into its own track) then use the Time Shift tool to move it to the first track."

Thank you very much.

Yes they do, but you are obviously having some sort of problem in applying those suggestions. What's the problem? In what way do they "not work"? Have you found the "Time Shift Tool"? http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tool ... #timeshift

Hello,
I made 2 mistakes: I "selected" the imported file in the second track AND I needed to drag it to the right, then up so as not to overlap the file in the first track.
But, I still cannot understand how this works (although I may not need to use it at this time): "You can record more material at the end of the track with Transport > Append Record."
Thanks very much.

Append Record:

1) Click the "Record button" and record something
2) Click the "Stop Button" to stop the recording
3) Hold down the "Shift" key and click the "Record Button".

You see how the recording continues on the end of the first bit of recording?
