I have recorded an instrumental track. Can I now record a vocal track while playing the instrumental?
Also, why do Edit menu items get grayed out at times?
Record 2nd track while playing first?

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

The tools can go gray if you Pause instead of Stop your playback. Audacity will not do very much in real time -- during playback.

Here it is...

It's actually wrong for Macs. Your settings are in Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
Keeping the instructions correct is very much like housekeeping. Never done.
