Dear All
I have successfully used Audacity to synchronise with Pictures to Exe (PTE) in Windows. Now I've got a Mac, I find that PTE will not run on it. Can anyone recommend a slideshow software (which will run on a Mac), that will successfully synchronise with Audacity, please?
Hope so.

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Just for the courtesy of answering, I doubt you will find an equivalent. See:

If making a slideshow in FLV or SWF format doesn't meet your needs, install Windows on the Mac then run Windows under Boot Camp:

Or, less guarantee of success, install WINE for Mac:

Dear Gale
Many thanks for your reply, it is very helpful, albeit in a negative way. And I don't feel so stupid now for not finding anything more myself.
I'll go with Photo to Movie, I think, using Audacity to mix the sounds before importing it. Thanks again.

You can do it in iMovie, but "Keynote" is the Mac software for presentations.
http://www.apple.com/iwork/keynote/
It's part of the iLife or iWork package. It moves around a bit.
I supervised a technical presentation a while back as a Keynote slide show. The most work I had to do was convince the editor/engineer that he didn't need all the special effects transitions in every show. I understand using the Swinging Barn Door effect in any show is a flogging offense.
You can still cut the track in Audacity. I'm not a fan of GarageBand for editing music.

Re: SLIDESHOW SOFTWARE TO SYNCH. WITH AUDACITY IN A MAC
Many thanks, Koz,
I have looked at Keynote as it seems to be Mac's equivalent to Window's PowerPoint. It does not give the range of timings and synchronising that I am after, I'm afraid. I am looking for software that gives the ability to 'flash' slides onto the screen (in time with the music, sometimes) for less than half a second, at yet can 'slow' the presentation down as required, too.
Thanks, again.

Re: SLIDESHOW SOFTWARE TO SYNCH. WITH AUDACITY IN A MAC
As pointed out, any modern Mac can boot and run Windows given the appropriate software in the middle. I have the Parallels software that I bought with this MacBook Pro, but I never installed it because all my Windows licenses are old and I couldn't generate enough work to buy something new.
You on the other hand, have a perfectly valid reason and task appropriate to doing this. There is no reason to try and shoehorn your show into the wrong software.

Re: SLIDESHOW SOFTWARE TO SYNCH. WITH AUDACITY IN A MAC
I have a Mac and have used several slideshow software packages. The one I am currently using is Photo to Movie 4.7. I know they are working on a version 5 now in beta testing. I have not used Audacity much, but do like the audio controls in Photo to Movie for synching with slides.
I have a website called Great Family Photo Slideshows that has three reviews of slideshow software. My review of a previous version of Photo to Movie is on one of my pages. I also have a sample slideshow at the end of the page.
I hope you enjoy your transition to Mac.
