background noise while recording

Hi,

I just downloaded 1.3 because I was having trouble recording with 1.2.

I am recording french cassettes to my mac.
When I record I get all the background noise from my home ie. kids, me typing etc. Please advise me to ALL the correct settings to have recording success.

I am using the TAPE2USBII cassette tape deck. I am a novice with softward etc so any settings I need to have please let me know and I will do my best to find everything.
