When I try to export an audacity project as a WAV file, an error message comes up saying:
Cannot export audio to /Volumes/Audacity 1.3.13/Audacity/firsttry.wav
The same thing happens when I tried to export it as an MP3 file (and I have already downloaded the Lame encoder for MP3 exporting).
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Can't Export
You are way into the critical system folders. I'm not shocked that the Mac wouldn't let you put music files there. Something else doesn't make sense. Do you have a disk drive called 'Audacity 1.3.13'? 'Volumes' is a mount point for your disk drives. It shouldn't have applications in there.
File > Export > Pick 'Desktop' from the scrolling list at left > Save. The music file will pop up on your desktop and you can move it from there.

Re: Can't Export
Same problem using OSX.5.8, only after saving the project to the desktop, what then? At some point you have to save it as a WAV file, right? And I get the same "Cannot export to Volumes/Audacity/1.3.1.3"
Re: Can't Export
Export it somewhere that you can write. Where do you normally put your music files? (not in "Volumes/Audacity/1.3.1.3")LATexan wrote:Same problem using OSX.5.8, only after saving the project to the desktop, what then? At some point you have to save it as a WAV file, right? Re: Can't Export
It looks like you are trying to save to the disk image (.dmg) that the Audacity program is distributed in. Please read the installation instructiosn for Audacity, do not run Audacity from the .dmg, and by all means don't save to the .dmg.
Installation instrucitons:
1. Double-click the downloaded .dmg to mount it
2. Then to install Audacity, copy the "Audacity" folder from the newly mounted .dmg to /Applications or any other location of your choosing.
