I am extremely new to Audacity, so I'm sure this may be some minor problem I'm overlooking, but I am having trouble importing an audio file of room tone into my project. I need to work with two .wav files - a recording and a minute of room tone - so I can lay room tone over various pops and clicks in the recording. Audacity imports the recording just fine, but it won't show any waveforms (or in this case, just a straight line) when it imports the room tone file. It basically creates a little window for this file, but there's nothing in it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Won't import room tone
Are you sure you are doing File > Import > Audio as opposed to File > Open to bring in the room tone file? Also, the room tone will be very quiet and may appear as a straight line in the track. What happens when you play back the imported room tone file?

Ah! I got it all sorted out about five minutes after I wrote this.
