Hi, I am guessing I am doing something wrong.... because if this was a real problem I am sure someone would have caught it already....
I am opening a .mov file and it loads the audio.... I choose the selection tool and go and select a part of the sound by dragging..... the selection is immediately played and when it reaches the end of the selection, the selection is cleared.
I have done this before (a while ago) and was pretty sure I was doing it correctly.... basically I want to make a selection and remove it.
Thanks, TJ

Re: Selecting plays immediately and disappears
Are you really using Audacity 1.2? I didn't know 1.2 could open .mov files.

You need to select by dragging on the audio track (across the waveform) not the ruler at the top. (Dragging on the ruler is intended to do what you describe so that you can quickly preview any section of the track without selecting it).
