Disable VST plugins

Hi folks,

I am wondering if there is a good way of disabling VST plugins showing up in the Effect menu.
I am learning Nyquist programming, but I have a lot of VST-plugins installed which make the menu very long and are very annoying.
The information page says that VST Enabler is required for activation, but in my case the Apple and VST plugins appeared from the beginning.

Thanks for help.

Hmm.. are you sure you don't have a VST enabler somewhere on the machine, maybe from a prior installation of Audacity? What do you have in the Audacity plug-ins folder, only .ny plug-ins? And in what location are the VST plug-ins that load? You can stop the Audio Units ones appearing by going back to Audacity 1.2.5 (Intel) or 1.2.6 (PPC). If the VST plug-ins are appearing somehow because they are in the same place as the Audio Units, then using 1.2 might stop the VST ones too.

Hi Gale,

Thank you for the response. You are right. They were Audio Units version of Pluggo plugins. I apologize for my confusion. I disabled them and the problem was sorted out. The menu is, however, still very long. It would be nice if we could organize into sub-menues somehow.

Many thanks.

Future Betas will probably allow the user to group LADSPA and Nyquist plug-ins together into particular categories, albeit manually.VST plug-ins might be groupable if loaded using VST-bridge, but I don't know about Audio Units. However the below free Mac software claims to be able to arrange which AU plug-ins load in which apps. Has anyone here tried it and found it lets you choose which ones to load in Audacity?
