Menus greyed out after cancelling effect

Hello,

every time I open an effect, preview it, and then click "cancel", all menus would be greyed out. I can still record by pressing R, play with spacebar, but I can't save the project.
Using audacity 1.3.5 beta on mac os Tiger. Anybody else experiencing this?

Greetings,

Do you mean you can't export, because it has no hotkey? You can add one in the keyboard Preferences. If you still have this problem, can you try a recent build
http://www.audacity.homerow.net/index.p ... alpha_.dmg

and let us know if you still get the issue?

Well, I couldn't export or save (not even with apple+S), but that is just the effect; the problem is that all menus are grey, meaning I can't execute any command.
I tried the 1.3.6alpha build, and it worked fine (thanks! :)) maybe because the structure of the menus has been modified, the problematic piece of code might have disappeared?

update: I just encountered the same problem with the recent build of 1.3.6, but *after* applying the effect (noise reduction).doesn't anybody else experience this? - Benr82
I don't think we are aware of this in 1.3.6. Are you on Intel or PPC architecture, and do you have one main project window open or more than one when this happens?

I'm on PPC, and have just one project window open.

Thanks, Ben. Leland (one of our Mac developers) has in fact seen menus greyed out after applying some effects (in 1.3.6), so I'll add it to our system for tracking issues so we don't lose sight of it.

Thanks

I also have encountered this problem after installing 1.3.5 on my Intel-based MacBook Pro. I'm running OS X 10.5.3 Leopard. Whenever I open any effect dialogue and then click cancel, all menus are grayed out. I have only the main project window open.

Should I also install the alpha?

Thanks,
-Kent

No, because the alpha will at least have the same problem after running an effect - the alpha is essentially the code we're working with. If you like you can check this page:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... own_Issues

which will advise when this has been fixed in the code, so that the alphas (but not 1.3.5) will be free of the problem.

Thanks

For those who have had problems with this, this alpha build of 1.3.6 should fix it (requires OS X 10.4):
http://www.audacity.homerow.net/index.p ... .3.6a2.dmg

Feedback posted to this thread would be gratefully received, especially as regrds any plug-ins underneath the divider (not built in to Audacity).

Thanks

Audacity 1.3.6a2 removed that error for me (Mac OSx 10.4.11 PPC). Thanks! I tried several effects.

Also, I like the way the effects are now sorted.
