Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Thanks for letting us know. The sorting of effects is experimental and we may well change that current ordering. The point of this is that eventually we'll provide a way for the user to edit the plug-in categories and sort them as they wish.

Hi I recorded a live streaming broadcast on 1.3.6. Unfortunately I wan unaware of the glitch until afterwards. Now I have the recording up but the save and export options are grayed out. I have followed the instructions on this thread and downloaded the new version. But that does this mean I will not be able to save the live recording or export it. If I quite the old version - i will no longer have access to this recording. Is there a work around? Please advise.

cheers,
Alex

What version of OS X are you on, and you are sure cancelling an effect has caused this?

The alpha build linked to in those old posts goes back to June. The current 1.3.6 release is more recent, and has the same fix, so I don't think the alpha will help.

Try COMMAND-Q and see if that gives you the "Save Changes" dialogue. If not, then force quit Audacity and when you restart it, it should offer to recover the recording. If it does not, you must leave Audacity open and recover the files manually from the project _data folder (or from the temporary folder if you never saved a project). See:

Hello,

I have the same issue of greyed-out menus with Audacity 1.3.6a6, using a MacBook Pro Intel with Leopard 10.5.5.

I opened an MP3 file, selected "Change Tempo" and got grey menus, without a save or export option.

I opened an MP3 file, played it, and got grey menus again

Command-Q offers save option in the Audacity project format, which saves the changed file.

I can then open that project file and save it as an MP3, so long as I save before doing anything else.

Hope this helps smack this bug!

Jeff

Just so we're talking about the same apples and/or oranges, pull down the Fraunhofer MP3 file from here and tell me it does the same thing.

I opened this file on my 1.3.6 Audacity. OS-X Leopard 10.5.5, Intel DuoCore Mini. Applied a 1% tempo change successfully and all the export and save menus are still available to me. When you try to access the save menus, do you have the thin yellow halo around the timeline?
