using audacity with voiceover

Post by johnythehess » Mon May 26, 2008 2:03 pm

Good day. I would like to know if any blind mac users are using audacity with voiceover and if you have any tips or tricks to share. If I may I also hope that the developers will consider testing this product with voiceover and including access to audacity through voiceover in the next release. This beta is much more promising and I am able to do more but there are many objects and controls that say "unknown" and are not accessible through voiceover. Please!!! consider making VoiceOver a mandatory part of the testing process. This product what I can use of it is excellent and has come a long way. Blind users are looking for an effective audio editor and this could be the one. Thanks.

There is a blind Windows user doing lots of stuff with Audacity, and much of the information will also apply to Macs.
Note that there are some inaccuracies early in the topic, but they mostly get corrected later on:

There is also a user guide for blind users that use JAWS screen reader. I don't know how similar that is to Voiceover on the Mac, but again, much of it should still apply:

For anyone else replying to this, "Voiceover" is the accessibility suite for Macs: http://www.apple.com/accessibility/voiceover/
