Keys Not working

The skip to start, play and stop keys are not working. When I press them (all disabled) shows up at the bottom of the screen.
Are you completely sure you're in Audacity 1.3.12 and not Audacity 1.2? Audacity > About Audacity.
We're talking about "Home," and "SpaceBar" keys, right? Home takes you to the beginning and SpaceBar switches between play and stop every time you press it.
Has any of this ever worked? Is this a fresh install of Audacity?
