I am using a Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Audacity 1.3.9 I have followed the instructions as given with Audacity but the vocals are not being removed. I have tried several songs, from my i-tunes library, changed them to mp3 format as requested, and followed through step by step in the Audacity instructions but with no success. It is very frustrating when I purchased Audacity for the job of making a Karaoke song. What can I do to get Audacity to work? Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Earl Brown

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Vocal is not being removed
Audacity is free if you obtain it from us and is currently at 1.3.12. I suggest you ask the company that sold you the outdated version of Audacity for a refund.Earl Brown wrote:I am using a Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Audacity 1.3.9 I have followed the instructions as given with Audacity but the vocals are not being removed. The only "vocal removal" that Audacity attempts is centre removal. Our Vocal Removal help page is perfectly clear that centre removal will not work in all cases. As explained there you can add plug-ins to Audacity that attempt more than just centre-removal but they are harder to find on Mac and probably won't be free.
We don't recommend converting files to MP3 before attempting removal of the centre-panned material. That will lead to a degradation of the material both during the conversion and during the attempted "vocal removal". You may wish to pass that on to the company who sold you Audacity.
I am also moving this to the appropriate Beta Mac forum.

Also when you post have you got "Notify me when a reply is posted" checked? This post seems a repeat of
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 462#p96462 which was replied to but you did not respond to the replies.
