1.3.12 fresh install won't start on Mac OS 10.5.8 (G5)

I just downloaded 1.3.12 but it hangs right after start, before building the menus, does nothing, won't quit. 1.3.5 worked oK (but I overwrote it with the new install). The 1.2.6 download works fine; when I started it for the first time there was a little modal window asking me for the default language ... it looks as if that window didn't get displayed on 1.3.12. and perhaps that's what my 1.3.12 is waiting for.

Is this a bug? Known problem? Error on my side? Are there workarounds? Perhaps if I could trick it into believing I had responded to that modal window ... ?

Yes it is a probably a known bug on 10.5.8 caused by scanning for VST plug-ins. For help see this thread.

1.3.12 does not ask for your chosen language, but chooses the language the operating system is using. You can still change the language to what you want on the Interface tab of Preferences (once you make a clean launch and exit)
