Hello I am writing Italy and I apologize if my English is not perfect.
I have a problem with Audacity. I started to use the program to record my DJ sets. Rec Connect the output of the mixer to your iMac directly to the internal sound card.
Well, when I playback the recording in many ways is accelerated, jump and sometimes repetitive. I set to 44100 and 16-bit but nothing.
What causes? Thanks again to all who want to help me.

I downloaded the beta version is 1.3.12 I have an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo.
I do not understand why I created these problems. When Out log everything, including internet and I also lowered to 0.3 the level of the incoming signal.
I do not know what other parameters I set.

I'm clueless on this one sorry... lets wait and see what the elves might have to say about this...

Is this a USB device that you are using? If so it may be a poor USB connection.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive?

In the Finder, click on the Go menu, then select Utilities - this will take you to the Utilities folder. (If your system is localized for Italian I don't know what these items might be called.) Open "Activity Monitor". In the menu at the top of the window select "All Processes". Click on the heading of the "CPU" column - if the little arrow is pointing up, click again so it is pointing down. You now have a list of all processes with the ones using the most CPU time at the top. Is anything using a lot of CPU time?

Let us know what you find.

Lowering the recording volume will not help.

So I have 660 gigabytes of memory so much. I followed the procedure for the CPU you told me, Firefox is the maximum percentage that varies from 34% to 50%.

You obviously have lots of free disk space, and apparently nothing is using too much CPU.

Someone with an Intel iMac could jump in here and tell us how much CPU Audacity uses when recording.

Have you ever had version 1.2.x of Audacity installed? If so, you may have a corrupted preferences file. It may be worth trying to reset the preferences in any case.

To reset your preferences:
With Audacity not running...

• Click on your "home" icon in the Finder sidebar.
  Double-click the "Library" folder to open it.
  Double-click the "Applications Support" folder to open it.
  Double-click the "audacity" folder to open it.
  Drag the file "audacity.cfg" to the Trash.

Now start Audacity and do a test recording.

You didn't answer waxcylinder as to whether you are using a USB connection, or are plugging into the iMac line input port. From your original message it sounds like you are plugging into the line input port.

I followed the procedure and I have deleted the file as I have indicated.
I understand if I install version 1.2 or leave what I have now.
Do not use the USB port, use the line input, the close vicinity to the microphone to speak.
Tomorrow morning (hours are 3:37 AM), I try to make a recording and let you know.
Tell me, just you, if I reinstall audacity in version 1.2 beta or leave.
