Post by memphiskat » Thu Dec 20, 2007 6:33 pm

Hello

Is there an effect similar to BBE's Sonic Maximizer available for Audacity?

Did you receive an answer?

I'm really interested in maximizing my music.

Thanks!

This is now classic User Operated Help Forum. Unless one of the elves has Sonic Maximizer, you get to wait for a regular user to post.

That could take a while.

The sonic Maximizer tools appear to work on individual instrument tracks. According to their demo, you can manage equalization and harmonic generation (controlled distortion) dynamically in real time. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time, so that would take forever to adjust.

It also wouldn't work on mixed music. There's no way to separate mixed music into individual instruments, so you would always run into the problem of fixing the drums without affecting everything else.

You can do a lot of these same jobs with the Audacity Equalization, Compressor, Leveler, and other processors. Again, given you have individual instrument tracks and not in real time.
