I posted to the features request section asking for the following shortcuts:
Edit > Move Cursor > To Clip End
Edit > Move Cursor > To Clip Start
Edit > Select > Cursor to Clip End
Edit > Select > Clip Start to Cursor
stevethefiddle says they already exist, but I can't find them. Not in the Edit menu and not in the Keyboard Preferences.
Mac G5 dual 2 GHz, 3GB RAM, OSX 10.5.8. Audacity 1.3.8. And I checked the latest nightly build of 1.3.9 just in case.

Missing cursor move / selection items on Mac?
Forum rules
Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Edit > Move Cursor > To Clip End
-- That's either the END key, or fn + Right Arrow on a MacBook.
Edit > Move Cursor > To Clip Start
-- HOME, or fn + Left Arrow on a MacBook.
Edit > Select > Cursor to Clip End
-- Shift + J
Edit > Select > Clip Start to Cursor
-- Shift + K

I suspect what you really want is to do those tricks to a single clip buried in a much larger show or timeline. No, I don't think there are any automated tools to do that.

But you should be able to workaroiund that by cutting/copying the selection from within the show to a new track (if cutting, you will need to do some time shifting to preserve the timeline). But then by selecting just the track with the selection in it, you should be able to use the shortcuts.kozikowski wrote:I suspect what you really want is to do those tricks to a single clip buried in a much larger show or timeline. Re: Missing cursor move / selection items on Mac?
Yes, I want to move/select within a clip as opposed to a track.
For selecting, a quicker workaround is to click at the edit point, split, then double-click the resulting "sub-clip" (either the front or back half). You can now do what you want to do with it - fade, delete, whatever. Once that is done you can join the clip back together if needed.
For moving the cursor, the workaround is to double-click the clip, then move cursor to start/end of the selection. You can't click on the very start/end of a clip because if there is another clip abutting it, you will join the clips.
BTW, the reason I was initially confused is because I had changed the J and K shortcuts, and didn't realize those were what people were talking about.

Custom installs are pretty much a nightmare to fix -- particularly from nine time zones away.
