Moving Tracks

Recently downloaded Audacity 1.3.7, and am trying to get around in there. I'm having trouble moving tracks. When I slide an entire track to the right, for instance, the front of the signal becomes clipped. That is, it plays back damaged. Am I missing something, or is this version a work in progress?

Do you have more than one track in the project?
