Audacity cannot open MP3 encoder

Before I get a reply that I don't need:
Yes, I have followed all instructions.
Yes, I am using the Beta.
Yes, I have the newest version of the Lame MP3 encoder.

Now onto my problem:

I have installed everything properly. I run the file, which creates a folder in my computer holding the lame encoder. It doesn't have a zipper on it, so I assume that it's unzipped. My audacity will not recognize that the file even exists. When I export something, I receive the error message "Could not open MP3 encoding library!" I've tried to search the forums to find an answer, but I seem to be out of luck. Perhaps I'm overlooking the post. Please either answer this question or direct me to the post that answers this. Thank you.

A workaround would be to export as WAV files and then find a standalone WAV to MP3 converter (you should find a free one with a quick googleof t'interweb - you can even do it in iTunes, but it's a bit fiddly).
